MONDAY, OCTOBER 28, 2019

 

The Bangor VFW Post 8278 will host its annual Halloween costume party on Thursday, October 31st, in the Bangor Elementary gymnasium. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the costume competition beginning at 7 p.m.

The party is free and open to all Pre-K through 8th grade students in the Bangor area. Judging of costumes will be by age group, with cash prizes for the top three in each division. All participants will receive a small prize for participating as well as a bag of goodies put together by the VFW. Door prizes will be awarded throughout the evening.

The party has been a Bangor tradition since 1946 and we are inviting any and all families in the Bangor area to participate and make this event part of your family’s traditional Halloween fun.

SPORTS

7th & 8thgrade middle school boys basketball begins tonight at 3:30 at the old high school. 

Middle School wrestling practice begins today. Wrestlers should wait outside the middle school doors after school to meet their ride to practice.

Results from Saturday’s sectional cross country meet: The boys finished in 12thled by Carlyle’s 14thplace finish. There were a few PR’s and it was a great ending to the season.

The Cardinal football team improved to 10-0 on the season and advanced to level 2 of the WIAA playoffs with a 40-0 win over Webster Friday night.  The offense racked up 365 total yards led by Carter Horstman’s 193 yards rushing on 30 carries and four touchdowns. 

Mathieu Oesterle and Owen Johnson also added rushing touchdowns.  Ashton Michek was 3 for 5 passing. Nathan Crenshaw was four for five on extra point kicks.  The defense recorded it’s 7th shutout of the season as it held Webster to less than 70 total yards and two first downs. Next up will be the level 2 playoff game Friday night versus fifth seeded Pepin-Alma at Bangor.
