To the Bangor Community, The Bangor School District is exploring options to provide or support family childcare, wrap around care, and summer programming needs. To make sure that we are focusing our efforts in the right places, we will be hosting a childcare community engagement session on Thursday, May 12 at 6:00 pm. The session will take place in the MS/HS Cafetorium. Any family or community members interested in joining this conversation are welcome to attend. We understand fully that needs exist and want to make sure that we hear directly from families about their needs and challenges, as well as from community that may have ideas for potential solutions. We are incredibly fortunate to be a part of a small but growing rural community where people come together for the good of our children. We look forward to this conversation and thank you in advance for your participation. If you have any questions or are not able to attend but would like to contribute to the conversation, please reach out to Mr. Johnson at Bangor Elementary, or to Dr. Brokopp in the District office. Thank you for helping to make each day be A Great Day to be a Bangor Cardinal! David Brokopp Ph.D. Superintendent, Bangor School District

Newspaper Error. In todays Monroe County Herald, an article was printed reporting on the April board meeting. Because the Herald watches the recordings of the board meeting for their stories, for this article they actually viewed the April 2020 board meeting. We have contacted the paper to point out this error. They will print a retraction, in the next issue. In the mean time, please know that our plan for COVID was not discussed at our April 2022 meeting.

Last week some of our high school music students went on a tour of New Orleans. They got to explore the historic French Quarter, eat beignets at the historic Cafe du Monde, meet some gators on a swamp tour, visit the Audubon Zoo and Aquarium, visit the Jazz Museum, learn about the creation of the magnificent Mardi Gras floats at Mardi Gras World, enjoy a meal and dancing at the famous Mulate's, and go on a haunted history tour! Along the way they got the chance to perform in Artillery Park, which is right across from Jackson Square in the heart of the French Quarter, and in the Founder's Plaza at the WWII Museum, along with doing a clinic at New Orleans University. This opportunity was amazing and the students had such a great time experiencing the history and the creative energy that is so prominent in New Orleans.
