Today, Ms. Thummel's General Music class got the opportunity to end their opera unit by interviewing 5 professional opera singers. The singers zoomed in from New York, Colorado, Texas, and Amsterdam to chat with these 6th graders. It was a neat experience to talk with these singers, 2 of which are Coulee Region natives! The students had a great time asking them about their jobs in opera.

Every year, thousands of students across the state of Wisconsin audition for the WSMA Honors Project. It is a rigorous audition process that puts their musicianship to the test. Only a few hundred are chosen to be a part of this Honors Project and complete a week long summer camp to learn their music. This normally culminates in a performance at the state music convention, but this year things are a bit different. Last year a small group of BHS students auditioned for this and one was accepted among the top HS musicians in the state, Jadyn Larson who was accepted into the treble choir. WSMA has put together a virtual performance/concert of all their music and it is available to the public! Below is the information of how you can watch it (the treble choir is the second group to perform) and see what these great students, including one of our own, created in this time of COVID.
