Bangor Elementary 5th graders spent 10 weeks learning from Deputy Cody from the La Crosse County Sheriff's Department in the the D.A.R.E. program. D.A.R.E. stands for Drug, Abuse, Resistance, Education. Maybe even more importantly, this program outlines the decision-making model - Define, Assess, Respond, and Evaluate. This framework can be used to solve many life problems. The students learned about the dangers of illegal drugs, misuse of alcohol and prescription drugs, and the effects of tobacco on the body. Other important topics were positive and negative peer pressure, ways to say no, bullying, stress, the help network and more! Thank you to Deputy Cody!
